China just marks parts of the Internet as a territory and introduces laws that meet the authority's satisfaction. Since free information and speech make people call in questions about the legitimacy of ‘the party leads everything’ and dark past, this situation won't get changed unless we distribute everything(but decentralization violates tech giants‘ interest) or a regime change happened. Otherwise, progress US and other countries made would just hold up a while.

I share the same desire, but since we put price tags on land, it would be a tremendous effort to collect funds to buy land back and most people just don't have the incentive to make that happen. It's just a fantasy.

> China's mobile app ecosystem is pretty good at providing technology that brings them together rather than drives them apart

What makes you think of that? Please elaborate. IMO people chat, share stuff, pay and do others things in the same app(wechat) is neither necessary nor helpful for bringing them together.

We aren't born in perfection. I'm assuming we all live healthy lives already, but that's not gonna cure everything.

I understand my opinion isn't popular, or easy to accept. However, some people (including me) have mild or severe anxiety, are ruled by fear in their entire lives. Having drugs doesn't mean they can eliminate what is encoded in their gene, but it can make dealing with their emotion more approachable, that's enough.

ps: I do L-Theanine, which can be found commonly in teas.

Thanks for sharing your anecdotes, it seems Apple's online store is a lot trickier to deal with that I originally thought. Given the fact that there are almost none posts about having troubles with ordering US gift cards in the Chinese social media, I wonder if they are offering Chinese people some special care(like lowering credit card validation standards? We don't apply for a CC to make domestic payments). Life is strange, without ever been to the US, I have the account you've always wanted for years.

I have always loved fountain pens. But I am currently using a mechanical pencil(Staedtler 925-25-05) only. I guess fountain pens are not suitable for note taking and drafting and maintenance makes using them a luxury for me. Mechanical pencils provide fewer options but still a great joy of writing experience(but nowhere near a proper gold nib pen).

For crying out loud, even using github based services like 'go get' or homebrew without proxies is a real pain in the arse, stop defending your 'it's not that bad' view cos it is.

Hey, most people just use Windows as the only OS and we still have Linux. Making the world a better place by forcing a majority of people being smart is much more hard and subtle than creating intuitive and expressive learning materials and IMO it should be left for economists.
