The comments really confused me. I thought the article was about delivering a pitch for your startup.

I have a habit of reading the comments on HN before reading the article. Helps me confer some context to it usually, and also see if it's worth spending my time. (Yes I know I should be making my own decision.)

If you use your android phone to send reminders ('Note to Self' voice command)

You can set up a filter for mails with Subject:"Note to self" Apply label 'yellow-bang' Skip: inbox

Wow. I haven't used it yet, but I love it already! I am going to go ahead, open a pull request and work on connecting a time tracker like SlimTimer (though I wish someone came up with a better interface). Opening a pull request because I'll need all the help I can get since I am still new to web development and nodejs.

Have you looked at http://codegolf.stackexchange.com/ ? From what I understand, these are similar except it's more about doing things in the least amount of characters than lines.

For example, here's the 552 character Ruby code to print the lyrics of a song.

For some reason I have a suspicion that Github Trending is game-able. I tweeted once about this suspect repo that had 3000+ stars and all it said was something like "Hello to all github trending viewers" or something along those lines.

Have you checked out https://www.hackerrank.com/ ? They initially started out with bot challenges as well.

I have no idea why a bunch of people here keep saying these questions are good for recruiting 'mathematics scholars'. Fact: I am a mathematics graduate student and I would not be able to solve this problem. I hope there isn't a notion that people studying mathematics spend all their time solving Project Euler type questions.

In fact I would be thrilled if they are recruiting for math people. They are not. I have been in the job market for a while now and recruiters literally stop listening when they don't hear "CS" in the first sentence.

Went to RSnake's website and encoded the address of Facebook to post on my wall. Facebook does not let me post it. After 3 or 4 tries, it blocked my account.

Does anyone know why Facebook does that?

Have you actually seen some of the posts in /new ? I don't think some of the links actually deserve even the accidental exposure to traffic.

The problem is then the signal-to-noise ratio decreases and therefore making the front page less attractive to new (maybe even to more experienced) users.
