Is the JVM spec itself really a moving target ?

I am working on a heavily customized java7/jvm7 internals engine. So I am years behind.

But arent most of the changes in the language / internal implementation ?

I agree however that trying to chase commodity processors is a fools errand.

Do u really feel an average/top driver can strategize during the race?

The race engineer has X10 data, X10 mental bandwidth, and X10 domain practice (that's his day job!)

There all these radio moments (Hamilton "how r we behind them?" after spinning out in Germany etc) .. which really makes it clear that the driver focus is very local (both spatially and temporally), as it should be!

Buy isn't most of the dynamic load limited to the locally-available jars ?

Which means that the AOT generator has a finite set of classes to.comsider ?

And similarly, all the Spring/Boot dynamic features are a finite combination ?

(I have work on huge JVM systems with huge classpath directories but ultimately these run time polymorphism are finite?)

embrassingstuff | 5 years ago | on: Apple rejects appeal from email app Hey

From the article

> could work within Apple's rules by allowing the app to function as a reader for standard e-mail, while also offering Hey subscriptions

This is apple's new stance or is it conventional wisdom for store policy?

If only Hey also worked with regular mail all would have been well?

Why was MCTS (or some search variant) not used in alphastar ?

(Sure, u need to somehow roll forward and rollback the StarCraft world, but for Atari using MCTS was shown to be an order of magnitude more efficient )

I have also seen comments that the search width is too large, or maybe academic purity consideration?

There is no such thing as bad capital.

But looking at the web site, over approx 2 years, 15 investments, I presume low-6-figures.

So out of 1000s online applications of "self builders" u have a 1 in 1000 acceptance rate?

This statistic is just as important as being "founder friendly" or "no song and dance needed".

How many people would.use a cloud compiler?

Let's set aside thecnicalities and assume it a real X5 improvements and all the files are mirrored seamlessly.

embrassingstuff | 6 years ago | on: Ask HN: What's your latest failed side project and why?

My situation is the complete opposite.

I have a great idea, did some decks/mockups/simulation's.

Was actually offered 6-figure angel investment (I passed).

Yet haven't been able to make reall progress with an MVP. I am a very experienced developer, but never did any web/saas stuff.

I feel embarrassed.

I have tried joining recently a tracking and discussion forum and it's been really helpful.
