on: Input: Fonts for Code
Yes. Call me old fashioned but VGA remains my font of choice for coding, email, and general text editing. This is the one I use:
http://www.inp.nsk.su/~bolkhov/files/fonts/univga/Every year or so, I do the font dance and scour the web looking for clean bitmap fonts (I strongly dislike antialiased fonts, my opinion may change when I get a higher resolution screen) but always come back to uni_vga.

on: Ask HN: Have you read "The Art of Computer Programming"?
I've read very carefully some parts of it, mostly combinatorial algorithms, because I had a program to write or an algorithm to study. I've also done exercises here and there when they caught my interest (obBrag: and once got a $2.56 check out of it). I'm also using TAOCP as a bedside table book, because Knuth is fun and relaxing to read.

You're not naive. It's just that with pot becoming legal in more and more places, something has to be done to sustain the American terror mindset.

Banks think they can play by a different set of rules than anyone else because they have always been allowed to. Does "too big to fail" ring a bell?

on: How to Write 225 Words Per Minute With a Pen
I remember finding a textbook on Gregg shorthand in my grandmother's attic when I was 10 years old. It fascinated me (secret writing! esoteric knowledge!) and I spent a few afternoons practicing and inventing my own abbreviations, even using it to take notes in school once or twice, but my family bought a home computer not long after that, and all my energy went into learning BASIC.
Every year or so, I do the font dance and scour the web looking for clean bitmap fonts (I strongly dislike antialiased fonts, my opinion may change when I get a higher resolution screen) but always come back to uni_vga.
