I think the recent attack against the Irish health services agency shows the need for something like this

Once you have an EU wide digital identiy+authentication (with multifactor and biometrics and all that) You can then move onto implementing fine grained authorization for people to manage what data various government agencies get and can share

They will probably create a system very similar to what Okta does which is great as it would save 27 countries reinventing the wheel, and one thing about security that is important is not to reinvent the wheel.

You will love the book series then, goes into much more details and is hard to put down, i binge read the lot

fenk85 | 5 years ago | on: Move to EU to avoid Brexit costs, firms told

You are missing the point, Brexit was sold as a "Britania would rule the waves, Singapore on Thames selling into Europe, rah rah" to the public.

However that's not what happened as it was never realistic or possible, and now the 46% of UK goods exports that go to EU27 are in a very tough spot, thousands of businesses and jobs at risk, direct and indirect. Not to say anything of services which are of course not included in tarrif free trade deal UK now has.

anyways purpose of Brexit was not "sovereignity" or whatever other lies were told, the purpose was to distract from decades of mismanagement by political elites in what is a fundamentally undemoratic system (Monarchy with hereditary head of state, vs presidential republic, upper house made of lords vs elected senators, lower house composed of Etonian elites, no constitution, centralisation of power at expense of Scotland, Wales, N. England, well basically everywhere outside the M25)

Very nice! first impressions is that it is very similar to Kotlin which i love working in, seems modern languages are converging on common set of niceties

Why the sarcasm? Here in Ireland a major bank was down for several days because contractor of bank located in India screwed up a production deployment or something, resulting in hundreds of thousands of transactions having to be manually reconciled.

In that time people had no access to their money, no tap and pay, chip and pin etc, nothing.

That was quite a lesson in importance of cash, another lesson was about a dozen years ago when all the banks here went to the wall and had to be nationalised in order prevent bank runs.

It will not

* that good black chernozem soul which makes up the Russian breadbasket would turn into desert in south of this region, while in the north the soil is too poor

* mass forest fires would choke the air

* melting permafrost would destroy existing badly maintained infrastructure and cities

If Russia is hoping for positives out of climate change they are in for a surprise

Literally fake news, the state of Science and engineering in Russia is dire, the generation that was brought up under excellent Soviet schooling is dying off or retiring (keep in mind male life expectancy in Russia is on par with Africa).

The people who designed, built and maintained their advanced technology are dying off and there is only a trickle to replace them, anyone with an advanced degree and experience tries to get the hell out of that country for a better life.

I be very worried about nuclear meltdowns in coming years as there are still Chernobyl class plants running and are crumbling.

There seems to be a push lately in UK media of running newstories about "making Britain Great again", just last week we had a story about a new spaceport, this week there is stories without source about EU caving in to all brexiteer demands and so on

All while the country is teetering on edge and could drag down its neighbours into another recession (selfmade this time), the NHS and local authorities remain in crisis, pound is weakening and inflation keeps going up.

It sucks being stuck sort of speak between 2 of your good neighbours undergoing a mental breakdown and self harming

fenk85 | 8 years ago | on: Britain expels Russian diplomats over poisoning of ex-spy

This is what is going to happen

Russia will blame everyone and use the usual whataboutism arguments, we already had Russian ambassador on CNN yesterday trying to float conspiracy theory that US done it because Russia destroyed all their chemical weapons and US has not (i kid you not)

Sanctions will be announced by western countries, but not implemented (whatever dirt they have on Trump must be good)

Everyone will forget and move on

Few years later proof will be found, but by that stage no one will care, case in hand Russian antiaircraft technology "falling" into rebel hands and shooting down a passenger plane a few years ago.

fenk85 | 8 years ago | on: Is democracy dying?

The point I am trying to make is that the US is not oscillating happily between left and right as the OP claims, but is veering further and further into authoritarian right territory.

I doubt many people in US would like their country to become a "shithole country" to quote their current president, but yet here we are watching history unfold
