In the same boat. It's painful, whenever a bug appears or there's something they don't understand; boom! A meeting gets scheduled. It kills the soul nevermind productivity.
The other one is having to answer the same questions over and over.
When you're about to go to production, tests have been written and everyone's done their part, you'll get asked, "so you're sure nothing will break production?" It blows my mind.

on: Why we ignore thousands of daily car crashes
Agreed, riding bikes gives us a different perspective on it all. I'd say we're generally more aware of our surroundings and other vehicles. A lot of the suggestions just won't work. Rules/laws/devices etc won't get rid of the human factor. Some people just lack the ability to be considerate to others.

I'd also add visibility/being able to check the blind spot in them. Also, they generally drive like they're invincible. Just a pattern I've noticed, hatchback boy racer vibes. I generally ride my bike a bit faster than the traffic and I'll get passed like I'm standing still. It's not really kosher having vehicles like that and inconsiderate drivers.

on: Putin says Western sanctions are akin to declaration of war
Everyone who's been following the events since 2014 predicted this. This isn't out of the blue, it's been a long time coming and the west could've prevented it.

But they'll manufacture and sell in China... The hypocrisy of the west is sickening.
Only the US and its allies are allowed to invade and bomb the crap out of other countries. Funny how many people get caught up in propaganda.

Does no one else think all these requests from Ukraine is a bit strange...
People, do your research and look into the history of Ukraine, you'll find that all of this was preventable. Watch something like Oliver Stone's Ukraine on Fire, it's a starting point to the bigger picture.
Does China face the same actions over their human rights violations ie. Uyghurs, no.
Does the US and its allies face the same actions over Iraq, Libya, Yemen... No.
Is the CIA held liable for all the coups and regime change initiatives throughout the years... No.
There's propaganda on all sides.

That's pure virtue signalling. Well off people can afford certain sacrifices. Why should people living month to month have to suffer more for what politicians decide to do in other countries.
Also, talking of hanging people. Start with the west. Iraq, Yemen, Libya etc. Wherever the west intervenes, hell follows.

As soon as American politicians get the same treatment... The west doesn't hold the moral high ground on anything. Wherever the US meddles, misery follows.

Wikipedia isn't a credible source though.
The takeaway from the last 2 years is that you can't trust the media. It's all propaganda and lies. Unbiased, objective news died a long time ago if it ever existed.

You're not alone, I just avoid it. I'd rather hope to see the same news or topics here and see what people have to say. The Ars comment section is scary and just makes me lose hope in humanity.

It boggles my mind that anyone can oppose transparency. Why do some people view these vaccines/pharma companies as something sacred, not to be questioned.

on: Loving Someone with Depression
Similar experience here. Though my ex was diagnosed with bipolar and borderline personality disorder on top of the clinical depression. Regular psychologist and psychiatrist visits and a scary amount of meds to take each day.
I've got a lot of empathy for people in relationships like this. It's not easy and even though there's help and medication, it still ends up being an up hill battle.
I myself have been struggling with Dysthymia since my teenage years so you can imagine how fun that experience was with her.
I tried everything with her to change her outlook on certain things, find ways to distract her mind, finding coping mechanism etc. Nothing worked, though I think she might not have wanted to get better in a sense. Having 5+ hour long arguments every day about things that weren't logical finally broke me. My Dysthymia turned into full on depression. For months I'd tell her that I'm going to bed praying I wouldn't wake up - hoping that she'd find better ways for managing things... I just eventually tapped out and had to leave.
So yeah, I have loads of empathy for people in similar situations. Just remember that you can leave. If you've done all you've could, no one will blame you. Some people just aren't meant to be in relationships or need a lot of help before getting into one.

Yep, they were crapping on the vaccines and now they're forcing people to take the same ones. People too easily forget what politicians spew. Critical thinking is lost on many.

Omicron is a mild flu. Live your life and have fun. Don't be a victim to fear mongering.
I'm never getting vaccinated, I haven't been sick since this thing started.
I'm South African, our vaccination rates are well below the rest of the world and we're relaxing restrictions. You wanna tell me us Africans have more common sense than the West? Don't let the media and politicians imprison you and turn you against the people around you.
