Thats not over engineering just crap design and using the latest toys for the sake of it.

Overengineering is the Victorian egineers way of desiging as they did not have the indepth knowledge we have and so have massive margins of safety.

Of course that means that some of the pre WW2 London Underground tains lasted longer than the ones bought in the 70's.

Are there really tons of hackers (in the way SV or even Silicon Roundabout understands it) remember a lot of the cream of engineering grads and technicians all want to work at Audi et all and get an office with "Doktor" on the brass plate

And this is from experience in having to work with german parent companies on behalf of their uk subsidiaries on web/internet work.

Makes working with France Telecom in Agust seem childs play

hmm a country where the local government FFS has its own "secret police" and you have to register with the police when you move house.

You have heard of the recent fiasco where one of the local secret police forces manged to miss (for several years) a neo nazi group under its nose who killed several people form ethic minorities finally committing suicide

You would rather that some one being investigated went back to work and potentially adjusted the evidence that is why when your investigated for a serious offence at work you are suspended.

But not in the context of a startup which is the context I was talking about your right a lot of the big firms on the FTSE will offer BUPA or somthing similar.

Well you dont have to worry about heathcare as the NHS takes care of that.

Incorporating is quick. Taxes are simpler than the states theres only one sales tax, one income tax and none of this complex mixture of 52 state taxes.

Yes you have to be Govenment RnD to aford this the big widtunnels at one RAE establishment(twinwoods) in the UK had there own HT link to a local power plant.

I suspect that Area 51 and the like do somthing similar. Though Google has sited one DC near a source of Hydro power not sure if they where running there own link to it or not.

Yes recall people comenting that PRESTEL did amazing things back in the day when BT was still efectivly a civil service organisation.

PRESTEL was designed in an era where if the female employes got married they had to leave the company. And there where strict rules about how senior you had to be before you got a chair with arms

With my wonk hat on sounds like an MEP needs to put up a motion of "no confidence" in this particular Commissioner.

the MEP's aprove comissioners and therefore must have the ability to censue or remove them.

as "The Parliament may also block certain Commission decisions where there has been a delegation of powers to the Commission and may repeal such delegation of powers."

If a Commissioner directly states that they will ignore the will of parliment they deserve every thing they get
