https://japanesecomplete.com/777this is so bizarre. learning in pure frequency order doesn't make sense. e.g. you should learn most of the numbers together instead of spread out like that.

You're absolutely wrong. The book uses the cultural revolution to contrast with the progress of the modern era.

The book Winner Take All Politics claims it’s due to rule changes within political parties such as the presidential primaries, giving far more importance to high earners and shareholders.

Ok, I read it. At no point does it say Alibaba is owned by the Chinese government. Jack Ma's not even the CEO anymore so dunno what you think this proves.

Haven't used Alipay but Wechat is really annoying because they get your Wechat contact info and text you ads. Other than that, yeah it blows away US payment system. Amazon Go store has potential to get us back on top, though.

I think you just woke up from cryovac from the 1950s. You should name names of communist agents in the state department

The UN is not unified on the uighur camps, so it would have to be individual countries at the national level. The UN has voted on several resolutions regarding Chinese policy in Xinjiang. Many countries abstain from voting and of those that vote, more vote in support than vote to denounce.

Depends on how they split it up, but this could be very bad for consumers. One of the plans is to spin off Chrome which sounds like a total disaster for web standards. Probably go with an obnoxious monetization scheme beyond licensing Google search if that didn't work out for the smaller Mozilla team.

I can understand this attitude in the general public but it’s completely bizarre from HN engineers. Expect more more optimism for FBI/NSA backdoors in encryption next.

on: US bans WeChat, TikTok from app stores, threatens shutdowns
If US govt really cared about OS-level security vulnerabilities from malicious apps, a better strategy would be to require Apple, Google, and Microsoft to make their OS 100% source-available (non-duplication) and encourage serious industry criticism of their codebase. Current strategy of selectively banning Chinese apps and products is just bullshit.
