on: Thinking about the Librem 5, why is it so expensive?
We can still pre-order at a little discount, until 31 Jan. I'd love to see the business actuals for this device. Apple charges this level or more for theirs, with have the world's largest economy of scale. Purism is tiny by any measure, compared to Apple, so I would speculate they are not taking a big margin on it. Am I off base?

Maybe it means that they are coming up with something else new? It's their right to stop producing something or kill ("sunset") whatever product, but it doesn't make it any less crappy.

on: Re-decentralizing the Web, for good this time
The problem is people. To put it charitably, not everyone is "technical" enough to figure out how to own their own data, so I think silos and walled gardens are here to stay, because they are quick and easy for people. I for one, fully support keeping my own data in (as much as possible) future-proof formats, and although I've had a blog in some form for years, I want to move away from standard social media as much as possible.
