Yea, older Toyotas are really dependable. Late 80's, and early 90's are dead simple. Make sure it's a manual tranny.

I'm in the process of buying a newer car/truck for a family member, and it's depressing. So many sensors, and computers that dealership mechanics barely comprehend.

I understand it's for emissions, but so many of those sensors are for comfort systems, and selling gizmos. The problem being is when they malfunction. A dealership mechanic will not tell a customer we are basically learning on your new computer on wheels, but they put that in the price to fix.

I went to automotive school in the ninties, and these new vechicles still scare me.

My trusty Snap-on Mt2500 is practically useless on newer vechicles.

And there will ge the guy whom claims, "I just plug a scan tool in, and that lovely system (CAN Bus system, and multiple computers), just spit out a PID, and the fix is found."

It's just so much more complicated.

On a positive note, my New Years resolution is trying to master these new electrical systems.

There's a market for a simple vechicle, like older Toyotas.

I don't see any company offering a simple vechicle? And yes, I understand emissions are a problem, but it doesn't seem like an impossible problem to get a manual four banger, with just the basics on the market.

And I won't get started on automatic transmission problems.

Sorry for the rant.

shadowbannedtoo | 7 years ago | on: Esketamine Drug For Depression Treatment Nears FDA Approval

I'm to depressed to look it up again, but there was a Psychologist Dr. Irving Kirsh whom used the Freedom of Information Act to study All the studies on antidepressants.

He found they didn't work better than Placebo.

I looked up the first thing I found on Google.

https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/psych-unseen/201802/...

This is written about Kirsh's study, and it's confusing. Kirsh interpolation of the raw data showed that antidepressants don't work, and work less so for extremely depressed patients.

This doctor claims the opposite?

Pesonally, I find the research on the efficacy of antidepressants very confusing.

To those whom are depressed, I can offer this, it does get better with age.

Programming/computing wages weren't that great years ago. I guess there were a few corporate exceptions, like Microsoft, but so many Programmers/IT guys were not paid well, and there were no benefits. This is when companies were called companies, not Start-ups.

When this current bubble of essentially free money ends, many of you will be in the same boat as this man.

And it does seem like once you turn 50-55 you are conviently let go.

This is the real America. There's a huge swath of 50-65 year olds whom just gave up. While the unemployment rate looks great, that number that measures the people whom are not disabled, but not working, is higher than ever.

Yes alcohol is bad.

Then again, it seemed like it was the only drug that helped with my panic attacks, and generalized anxiety.

Benzodiazepines(mainly Klonopin) helped a bit, but dealing with MD's is tedious, and expensive, and there's nothing more irritating than a doctor whom forgets to fill refills, or wants to see you for another expensive office visit before the script is written. (I happened to run across a ethical doctor, but I'm definetly in the minority. And I only found him after seeing utterly useless "professionals".

I knew after my breakdown that if I wanted to make it to middle age, I would only use alcohol when absolutely needed. Meaning very light drinking during social events, or none at all?

I tried to only use the poison when absolutely needed.

As my grandfather said, "Moderation in everything!".

(I think I'm Shadowbanned. Up, or down vote me. To lazy to go to incognito mode on my laptop. By the way, I belive shadowbanning because you refuse to kiss a moderator's ass is childish, petty, and un-American. It's mean girl, middle school tactics. It's not clever, it's weaselly, and weak. At least tell the person that got their panties/ego in a bind to get lost?)
