Firefox for Android has been killing it for me with the latest ux updates, I didn't expect major improvements there and was pleasantly surprised.

- The name of the product is broken "Jelly Star Estrella" instead of Jelly Star
- "Descubrir Jelly Star Estrella" instead of "Descubre Jelly Star"
- "Jelly Star Estrella Presenta un diseño" consistently uppercasing the first word disregarding their product name in the sentence
- "Jelly Star EstrellaLa luz LED" or just not leaving spaces
- "Aparece en dos colores" instead of "Disponible en dos colores"
I got tired reading an IA generated translation not reviewed by one single human that spoke the language, that went through some quick copy and paste.
Concept looks cool, I just can't trust them on quality.

Hope at least now it's usable, would love to be able to enumerate things, use code blocks, etc... it's a bit of a nightmare for day to day work as it was, so I'm glad at least there is some movement, as we are basically captive audience.

Trackendar, an habit tracking calendar app. Not currently monetized, got some initial traction, put ads which I promptly removed as they made the app look like shit and had some 'add ons' with which I made between 400-500 USD, I didn't get to see that money as getting an USD payment in Argentina was a PITA so the US has them now :/
All local data, so no cost except a lot of time learning 'old' android and constantly maintaining whatever google wants to change or deprecate + updating the date/time library with the latest TZ changes. Has more features that it needs or users want to learn to use like categories, themes, reports...

sickmartian | 4 years ago | on: Ask HN: How are you handling salary/compensation with high inflation?
- Some companies pay part of the salary in a stronger currency (USD) - I get this is probably not viable for your current scenario, and it a perk I don't actually get, but my wife does.
- Some companies have quarterly or bi-monthly inflation rate adjustments, this is semi-automatic, we subscribe to an independent party that measures inflation and whatever number they come with goes, this is because Argentina has a history of fudging the numbers to make the government look good.
It will still require adjustments from the individuals, even if you have a cooperating employer, for example you probably want to buy stuff as soon as you get paid, otherwise you are losing money.
sickmartian | 4 years ago | on: Ask HN: I keep forgetting the new habits I'm trying to form
So, worst that can happen is I miss a week and I'm then reminded of why I wanted to do this and I can get started for next week.
The most important thing is to be kind to yourself, run or walk at your own pace, falling a couple of times doesn't mean you have to give up, eventually you will get there, even if you skip a couple of days or weeks or give up for a short time and take over later on. It's self improvement, nobody is supposed to be perfect.
sickmartian | 4 years ago | on: Reddit’s disrespectful design
That makes two of us. I agree but don't stay away, I use old.reddit w/reddit enhancement suite, doesn't fix incognito for me as I don't let addons run there, but using containers on firefox instead helps.

Users will think they have right for personalized support (which makes sense, of course) and will contact you for refunds, the reviews will get meaner as well and then you have to keep the library updated.
I got a notice that I have to re-do the IaP code on my app, an app that made me $600 over it's lifetime of which I saw nil because of how hard (and expensive really) it is to get the money into my country... just removed the whole purchase thing, it should make some users happy and my life easier.
