"It requires more planning to do anything. This is also not good if you just want to try something quickly and then roll back later."
Since you can pretty much type javascript in to a TS file and it will work I don't see this being valid.
Also planning is good, if your not thinking about the structure of your code (which does not take that long) then your just producing diarrhea.

So the reason the replacement is so expensive is because you've coupled yourself to a particular OS and so your replacing a macbook with another macbook. Even though there being other cheaper and more powerful options.

I honestly doubt it would cost $3000 to replace your 5 year old macbook.

on: Uber is treating its drivers as sweated labour, says report
If you find yourself making less than minimum wage, then get a job making minimum wage. They aren't that hard to find.
While that still leaves the problem of not being paid nearly enough at least you get breaks, predictable pay, and the ability to slack off a bit without directly losing money.
I find it hard to feel sorry for people who latch on to a losing strategy and never look at other options.

on: Paris makes all public transport free after 'worst air pollution for 10 years'
If pollution is the issue then ban pretrol-powered cars and give citizens 5 years to move over if they want to continue driving. Offer subsidies for low cost models so its affordable for a modest percentage of the population.
Not only would this cut down on pollution. It would decrease traffic, and still allow those who want a ride from a (taxi, uber, etc) to continue doing so.

There should be a clause that only helps individuals with useful majors (Engineers, Education, Math) and not some dingus that went to a $60,000 a year private school for art therapy.
