on: Show HN: Dlog – Journaling and AI coach that learns what drives wellbeing (Mac)
I love the vision. From what I can tell, you're building something that I think should exist and we have the technology for now. I think we need a place to put our 3, 5, 10 year goals, and some kind of process to keep us on track for that. And it's so personal, of course the LLM aspect needs to be local-only.
One concern I have is that I think I will need more than an empty "add Journal entry" nudge or prompt. I think I would want what a real coach would do/say. Something like, "How's the meditation/exercise/calling friends/making stuff going?"

Once you get Home Assistant to control your thermostat, you can add the excellent HomeKit integration to HA. That exposes all or some of your devices in HA to Apple Home. You can then access them like other Apple Home devices, including via Siri if that’s interesting to you. It’s great.

on: MyQ's horrible take on open access to their devices
Firstly, I completely agree with the sentiment in this post. I’m one of the many affected by this, and it’s annoying.
Secondly, I have a hunch that there is a lawyer on the MyQ side that said that allowing customers to control their doors via api will open MyQ to liability. It’s an absurd argument since, well, it is a door with a remote control, but I can easily picture someone making that argument.
I wish there was a way to ensure open compatibility of devices when they are sold, like an “open access” certification.

“You have helped calm my fear of flying” is a somewhat frequent comment on many of the videos of aviation related videos like Mentour Pilot on YouTube (no relation), I think particularly in the accident analysis ones.
It seems that knowing what is going on and being aware of the safety systems helps demystify some of the fearful aspects. Perhaps that may help you.

I'm curious about that keyboard setup. To the author- if you see this, can you share some of its details- I've been wanting to put together something similar.

I use this, and it lets many scam calls through / unmarked.
