I wonder how those 25 richest families fared in 2022 when the markets were tanking?

If I remember correctly, back in the 70's in the US speed limits were lowered to increase fuel efficiency. I think people advocating for increased speed limits or no speed limits at all should at least consider the increase in fuel consumption and pollutant emissions when looking at the pros and cons.

on: Low interest rates in advanced countries have pushed money into real estate
Off topic but I noticed while reading the archive.md article I highlighted some text by accident and noticed that the URL was updated to point to that text,
https://archive.md/REmb8#selection-2437.0-2437.5. I've never seen this before. I know Chrome has 'Copy Link to Highlight' but this appears to be different and cross browser compatible. Does someone have any info on how this works? I'm assuming that URL is updated via JavaScript. What about when browsing to the URL? I think this is handy and something I'd like to incorporate into a blog site I'm building.

This and the post you are replying to both sound like sabotage by a competitor rather than legit data collecting.

Insurance isn't a bet. It's a hedge. The bet is, you're not gonna wreck your car, or burn down your house. The gamble, in your scenario is not getting insurance.

The last bit of motivation I needed to finally make a switch! I know there are a lot of threads about this, but what do people recommend? Ease of use/transition is key or I won't be able to convince my partner to switch!

What do you mean, "It's a fictitious company"? Is this not a legitmate service of yours? I get that the service, if real, produces fictitious content but your wording is throwing me off.

I had a similar experience taking some relatives to Yellowstone last week. I was actually impressed that my 17 yo niece and 21 yo nephew absorbed the views primarily with their eyes and not there phones. As for the hoards of others...

on: Venezuela Is in Crisis. So How Did Maduro Secure a Second Term?
For the past week, a Venezuelan house painter has been working at my house. He immigrated to the U.S. 3 years ago. He was a police officer that refused to do the governments bidding, so he fled. As did ~500/700 that were in his police academy.
We just spent the past 2 hours talking about the past and present situations in his home country. I'm beside my self and ashamed that I've been so ignorant to what has been happening.
I don't even know what to say here or even where to begin.

Unrelated, but I hate this growing trend of anonymous service/information providers. If I'm going to give my personal information to an organization and trust its content and potentially pay for a service, I want to know who you are.
So, who is datascience-school besides a location in Singapore? Who are the founders, who else is involved, what are their stories/history and motivations. All of this would lend some credibility to any organization.

We don't consider this a leak when the marketing firm loses its data. It's only a leak when we find out that the marketing firm has lost control of its data.

on: Three Charged in Fatal Kansas ‘Swatting’ Attack
Your tone suggest that these were a couple of irresponsible 8 year olds playing a prank. There were 17/18 yo and the person that called in the swat was 25. They all are plenty old enough to know what our LE system is all about. As far as the 25 yo serial swatter, it was just a matter of time before something like this happened.
