This Is It, by Alan Watts also describes some of the same feelings. I picked it up recently and am still trying to digest the concepts he describes.

I noticed the "only one on sale" thing too. I suspect the author meant it was the only one for sale at the store, period, not that it was the only one with a sale/discounted price.

I saw "The Ashley Book of Knots" mentioned on another post, and it has some interesting history of knots. Especially that the introduction of books led to sailors spending more time not knotting.

> Today at another McDonald's I observed the entire bootstrap process and can confirm that the kiosk indeed is responsible for installing “custom firmware” on the card reader

If this part is correct, it seems like an attacker could compromise the reader itself.

We just started smelling/tasting some fishy flavor with eggs from one of our hens. We suspected flaxseed in the feed we were giving, and switching feeds seems to have fixed it.

Brown egg layers are apparently more prone to this issue

Failing to answer Leetcode questions doesn't mean anything is wrong with you. Many will be difficult without spending a lot of time practicing similar problems.

If they were "easy"-ish Leetcode questions, it might not be a bad idea to practice some basics.

Many interviewers are looking at your thought process and ability to transfer your ideas into, not just whether or not you solved the problem.

Never got around to playing it, but I probably spent 10+ hours trying to get the demo to run on the family PC. Unsuccessfully.

walterlb | 4 years ago | on: The Windows 11 insider build is surprisingly unpolished and unfinished

The picture at the top of the article has the caption "Setting Windows 11 to one of its dark themes also darkens the background of the Settings app—but not the background of most traditional apps, like Resource Monitor".

This doesn't seem like news.. Dark theme has been in Win 10 for a while and didn't apply to old style apps. Did they specifically promise to do this?

This was oddly fun.. It inspired me to keep writing a stream of thought that I normally wouldn't do anything like:

hello, my name is sublime text, and I don't know what I'm doing. I have to keep typing to listen to this song I'm not sure I actually like.. But I have to at least get to the chorus, I guess. Paused for a few seconds there.. Guess I'll keep going. Still going. Well, this isn't so bad since I don't listen the radio anymore and hear this twice a day. Matter of fact I was thinking of going back and listening to some Sublime albums just a few days ago. Hope this doesn't send me on a full-day exploration of 90s music. Ok chorus has started, almost there, then I'll stop, I think. Ok, yep thats it done now :)
