The video is an in-person discussion with Geoffrey Hinton, and the chip on your shoulder may be coloring your impression of reliability since the news agency and the person being interviewed stand rather apart to any reasonable person. Also, you are quibbling over the word 'smarter' and it doesn't seem like you are interested in opening the conversation further than to make your point of contention known. And, I have to ask whether you've seen the interview to begin with. Rude.

A sticking point in the Wikipedia article is beneficial ambiguity regarding Haldane's departure from UCL and the UK.[1] He was a staunch Stalinist and a Lysenkoist.[2] At the time many of his Soviet peers were executed for being "reactionary", i.e. non-ideological. Haldane was well aware and did not condemn the atrocities. His wife disputed him over this and it nearly cost their marriage.[3] Charlotte his wife is negatively portrayed.[1] [1]https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._B._S._Haldane#In_India [2]https://www.jstor.org/stable/4330841 [3]https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/how-stalin-manipulated-...

People forget history, but also revise and sanitize historical narratives. One quiet part is that Einstein was an unrepentant Soviet sympathizer in full awareness of the atrocities that were committed. Politics makes people dumb.

My comment has to do with the last line of the article, "nature doesn't forget." Obsolete symbiotic relations persist in the survived fossil species. The anachronic persistence of literally out-dated adaptations can be metaphorically extended to and within cults of worship that are based on the person-deity concept. Many pagan cult rituals persist in newer religions. Religion itself is anachronic to the modern ethos.

>According to Bill Sammon's book Fighting Back, Bush's gaze flitted about the room—the children, the press, the floor, his staff—while his mind raced about everything he did not yet know.

ed_westin | 2 years ago | on: The reason why men marry some women and not others

The article is from 2016. Recent data from 2023 studies are showing that while Gen Z and Millenials are fewer to marry and want children [1], they are also rewriting the rules of dating [2]. Digital forums like TikTok are giving younger generations a safe place to destigmatize what are deeply personal choices.[3]

But not all persons should marry and not all parents have the patience and attention to be good parents. It's a difficult road and who can blame any person for choosing otherwise?

Purity can play an outsized part for some identities and moral worldviews. The truth is messier than myth.
