on: Apple is rebuilding Maps from the ground up
Meh, I usually look at my route ahead of time with both google maps and apple maps. Sometimes one is better, sometimes the other is better. Apple Maps is good enough for what I use it for, and it does integration with iOS better.

on: Behind the Pixel: Google’s First Real Threat to Apple’s iPhone
I'm not sure what about the iPhone needs to be killed? As far as I know it's not got the majority market share? If they're talking about the ecosystem where iPhone is definitely making a killing, then they need to work on their software more than their hardware.

on: Yahoo scanned customer emails for US intelligence
See, the thing is, if the company had a way to encrypt all communications so that they couldn't read it, they wouldn't be in this position :\

on: FBI Wants It to Be Impractical to Deploy Strong Encryption Without Key Escrow
It's basically the "us vs. them" attitude - i.e. dehumanizing the "enemy". As soon as everyone realizes that it's just "humans vs. humans" we'll get more intelligent discourse, and, perhaps, some sort of actual progress.

>>> What incentive does a waitress have to give you good service if she's making a standard wage and no tips?
I'd think pride in her work? That's pretty shitty if they can treat customers like crap.

Terrible. Why even allow this. A terrible, horrible cludgy hack.

Agreed. The internet is essentially about information. Words are a subset of information transmission. What we can take away from this page though, is that information should not be obstructed by cruft. I agree with that.

I used to work for an Affiliate Network. I can confirm the only thing that was cared about was the bottom line.
