Personally I am glad no one mentioned that book. It's an overly long blog post with some anecdotes mixed in to stretch it to book length.

> killing e.g. a pig is as moral as plucking an apple from a tree.

I don't know how you can make this argument. Does an apple tree feel pain, fear, or loss when it or another apple is plucked?

People's feelings of sameness everyday and of time dragging goes beyond the 9-5 schedule. I'm at home all day every day. After hours time doesn't matter because I have limited options for what to do and who to do it with. Same with the weekend. Kerning is the amount of spacing between letters. Type with poorly applied kerning is a long standing joke as a way to annoy a designer. Font files can have the amount of kerning between letter pairs built in. This font is Helvetica with very poor kerning built in. It's "hell" for people who care about kerning.

This is mentioned in the article along with a way for spammers to get around it.

"There is an option that states “No, only show invitations to which I have responded”. This prevents the first method of injecting events from working. However, BHIS found that it is possible to set the target’s response status to “Accepted” using the Google API. This effectively bypasses this security setting."
