on: Athena landed in a dark crater where the temperature was -280° F / -173° C
How can you have temperature without a medium? The lander would have steadily lost temperature through heat radiation, but it's not like the vacuum had a temperature in the crater.

Actually, four vehicles would have more tyres in total (:

To what degree will AI-generated text and watermarking influence how human language evolves... I bet "delve" will become more frequent in the spoken language :)

on: Ask HN: Has anyone gotten complete, permanent relief from tinnitus?
I had a period of bacterial imbalance in my gut caused by Plastocystis Hominis. At it's worst, I got periods of tinnitus. After being cured, took a year to find the cause, the tinnitus also disappeared. Worth checking out the bacterial balance in the gut and trying some probiotics.

on: Was the Nord Stream 2 Rupture an Accidental Catalyst?
What WWIII? The one where Russia, that has no functioning military, together with Wakanda faces the rest of the world? The rusted non-functioning nukes that Russia has no reason to use and only function as a deterrant?

I just installed incineration toilet at my cabin. Works great and burns the shit to ashes. Works with a gass balloon and a 12V battery. 220V option being available.

on: Tell HN: I have the perfect job, why is it not enough?
Happyness is mostly how you yourself perceive things and less dependent on external circumstances. I would work more on own pshychology and perception of things. Our brains are riddled with biases and filters, it helps a great deal to know about them and to identify your own fallacies.

Hopefully thorium SMR reactors will be a thing soon, as Norway has huge deposits of it. Won't help in the near future, though.

A NATO alliance that is an American puppet and following American interests is dangerous for the stability in Europe. Europe should take more responsibility for it's own safety.

on: Putin orders Russian peacekeepers to eastern Ukraine's two breakaway regions
Germany should never have shut down many of its nuclear plants to become reliant on Russian gas. Buildout of new nuclear and SMR as soon as possible, and declaring nuclear as green energy should be prioritised. Wind and solar is not enough to stabilise the grid without storage technology.

on: Is Crypto Bullshit?
Crypto is total bullshit, how could you ever think that it is practical to find three very large positive integers e, d, and n, such that with modular exponentiation for all integers m (with 0 ≤ m < n): m^d^e === m (mod n) and that knowing e and n, or even m, it can be extremely difficult to find d. Come on.

People who are consious about climate change are the kind of people who should have kids, and propagate those values. The world will be worse off if filled by mindless drones instead.
